Kumbhaka Flow preserves and teaches the classical yoga traditions of India —
Pranayama, Hatha, Kundalini, Nidra, and Kriya — exactly as they were
transmitted for thousands of years, from the banks of the Ganga in Rishikesh.
Each practice is a complete path — not an exercise routine, but a systematic science developed over millennia for the integration of body, breath, and consciousness.
Foundation
Hatha Yoga Pradipika · 15th Century
Pranayama
The science of breath. Prana is life-force; Ayama is expansion. Through systematic regulation of the breath — Nadi Shodhana, Kapalabhati, Bhramari, and Kumbhaka — the practitioner purifies the energy channels and steadies the mind.

Hatha Yoga
Ha is the sun, Tha is the moon — the union of opposing energies. The classical Hatha system works through asana, pranayama, mudra, and shatkarma (purification practices) to prepare the body as a vessel for higher states of consciousness.

Kundalini Yoga
The path of energy. Kundalini refers to the dormant cosmic energy coiled at the base of the spine. Through specific kriyas, pranayama, mantra, and meditation, this energy is awakened and guided through the seven chakras to union with universal consciousness.

Yoga Nidra
The yoga of conscious sleep. In this deeply systematic relaxation practice, the practitioner is guided through five layers of consciousness — the Pancha Kosha — while remaining on the threshold between waking and sleep. One hour equals four hours of ordinary rest.

Patanjali Yoga Sutras · 400 CE
Kriya Yoga
Patanjali defined Kriya Yoga as three practices: Tapas (discipline), Svadhyaya (self-study), and Ishvara Pranidhana (surrender). In practice, Kriya refers to a powerful series of energisation techniques that accelerate spiritual evolution by purifying karma.

Yoga Sutras · Dharana and Dhyana
Dhyana — Meditation
The seventh limb of Patanjali's Ashtanga. Dhyana is uninterrupted concentration — not the effort to concentrate, but the state that arises when the mind has been sufficiently prepared. Classical meditation is the natural fruit of all other practices.

Our Story
From the source, unchanged.
Kumbhaka Flow was founded in Rishikesh — not as a fitness studio or wellness
brand, but as a preservation project. The classical yoga traditions of India
are among humanity's most sophisticated technologies of consciousness, and
they are being steadily diluted by the modern wellness industry.
We teach only what was taught to us — directly from teachers rooted in
lineage-based transmission. No modifications for comfort. No repackaging
for the market. Yoga as it was designed: systematic, demanding, and
profoundly transformative.
Kumbhaka — the retention of breath — is the still point at the centre of
all practice. That stillness is what we offer.
Everything we offer is shaped by these four commitments — to the tradition, the student, and the integrity of the practice itself.
01
Lineage-Based Transmission
Every practice we teach is traceable to an unbroken lineage of teachers. We do not invent or modify — we transmit exactly what was given to us.
02
Correct Sequence
Yoga has a precise internal logic. Practices must be taught in the correct order — preparatory before advanced, body before breath, breath before meditation.
03
Individual Adaptation
The tradition is fixed. The application is personal. Every student receives guidance appropriate to their constitution, capacity, and stage of practice.
04
Practice Over Theory
Yoga is not a philosophy to be studied. It is a technology to be applied. We teach by doing — concepts are explained only to support the direct experience.
"When the breath wanders, the mind is unsteady. When the breath is still, the mind is still."
